This year, as part of our 125th anniversary, we will be celebrating five remarkable Clarion residents who have made a lasting impact on their community as we launch our first Resident Hero Awards.

Every community has difference makers who are there in times of need to lift up those around them, constantly working to bring people together and inspire positive change. Often these heroes can fly under the radar with little acts every day that impact their neighbourhood for the better.

With the Resident Hero Awards, we wanted to put those individuals in the spotlight, celebrating them for all that they do, and allowing their community to let them know how valued they are.

Resident Heroes can go the extra mile in any number of ways, but this might include:

  • Supporting neighbours in need - checking in, lending a hand with shopping and day-to-day tasks, or offering companionship.
  • Bringing the community together – leading projects like gardening, litter-picking, or organising local events.
  • Championing inclusivity and wellbeing – supporting mental health, celebrating culture, or creating spaces for young and older residents.
  • Making green improvements - leading recycling drives, sustainability projects, or restoring community spaces with art or nature.
  • Sharing their time and skills - from DIY help and delivering food to running local clubs and activities.

Winners will be judged by a panel, including Clarion colleagues and a resident guest judge, and will be awarded with a trophy and a £250 voucher that will be presented this summer.

Nominations are open now for anyone to submit. So, for staff, residents, or stakeholders, if you know a Clarion resident in your area who goes above and beyond to bring people together, to support their community, or to spark change, then give them a chance to shine by nominating them before the deadline for submissions on Saturday, 31 May 2025.

To nominate or to find out more, visit the Clarion 125 website.
