Clarion hosts Retrofit Society event
Clarion was proud to host a two-day Retrofit Society event in partnership with Healthy Homes Hub, Sero, and Tallarna at our head office in London recently.
Bringing together 40 attendees from 12 housing associations and key stakeholders, the event celebrated 18 months of the society’s impactful work, focusing on the urgent need for retrofitting in social housing.
As one of the largest social housing landlords, we are leading the way with ambitious retrofit targets that are essential to delivering meaningful environmental, social, and financial benefits for our residents and communities.
What is retrofitting?
Retrofitting involves upgrading existing homes to improve energy efficiency, including fabric improvements, renewable heating systems, and solar PV installation. These measures not only reduce energy costs for residents but also align with our Clarion 2050 Strategy, helping us meet our sustainability goals.
Event highlights
Day one saw attendees convene at our head office for engaging roundtables, panels, and presentations. Key speakers included Tim Meanock, CEO at Tallarna, George May, Managing Director at Horizon Energy Ventures, Imran Mubeen, Director at Newbridge Advisors, Nicholas Lane, Director of Infrastructure & Government at PwC, Jenny Danson, CEO of Healthy Homes Hub, Chris Paul, Partner at Trowers & Hamlins, and Paul Norman, Clarion’s Director of Asset Strategy, who provided insights into our ambitious 13,000-home retrofit project in Bromley.
Day two took participants to Essex Tower and Queen Adelaide Court in Bromley, where Paul and his team led a tour showcasing the principles behind the project. The visit offered attendees a first-hand view of the decision-making process, innovative technology choices, and the tangible benefits these improvements bring to residents. The day highlighted the critical role of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in driving change across the sector.
A commitment to sustainability
This event underscores the progress we’re making towards achieving our Clarion 2050 vision. It reaffirms our commitment to creating energy-efficient homes, enhancing the quality of life for our residents, and contributing to a more sustainable future.
We are proud to be leading one of Europe’s most ambitious retrofit initiatives and remain focused on setting a new standard in social housing. Through collaborations like those fostered within the Retrofit Society, we’re building homes and communities that stand the test of time.
