Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 report
The publication today of the Phase 2 report of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry marks an important moment. This report delves into the causes of the tragic events of 14 June 2017, seeking to understand how Grenfell Tower came to be in a condition that allowed the devastating fire to spread in the way it did. The findings and recommendations from this phase will undoubtedly continue to shape the future of fire safety and building regulations across the country.
As part of the response to the recommendations from Phase 1, the Government introduced the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, which came into effect in January 2023 and Clarion has embedded the necessary changes into our practices.
Phase 2 of the Inquiry goes beyond the events of that tragic night to examine the root causes, exploring the regulatory and cultural failures that led to the disaster. The findings of this phase are far-reaching, and as an organisation, we have a responsibility to consider these recommendations carefully and act where necessary.
In the coming weeks we will be thoroughly reviewing the Phase 2 report and its recommendations. We are committed to assessing what more we can do to enhance safety across our homes, aiming to go beyond compliance to set new standards in the sector.
Like us, the Government will also be carefully considering the recommendations made in this report, and we can expect a formal response in due course. We will monitor these developments closely and align our actions with any new legislation or guidelines that emerge. However, I want to be clear that we will not wait for the Government's response to act where improvements can be made early. Our priority has always been, and will continue to be, the safety and well-being of our residents.
