The Clarion Index 2020

Even in normal circumstances, it’s vital for Clarion to know and understand our residents so we can target our services and make sure our offer meets their needs. But the last six to eight months have turned lives upside down, making this more important than ever.

So, while every year we run a wide-ranging survey of 2,000 residents and publish the results as The Clarion Index, this year we added new questions to find out how residents' lives had been affected by the pandemic.

We have already published a report on the impact of Covid-19 on Clarion residents where we’ve identified specific groups most adversely affected in terms of their wellbeing, employment and finances.

The report though, is of the main survey results; a broader look at residents' lives. It is a snapshot of a unique time, having been carried out in early summer, when the UK was in a nationwide lockdown.

Many of the metrics around community, neighbourhood and wellbeing have stayed high, and we’ve seen some positive moves in our financial measures. Of course, circumstances will continue to change over the next year, so we will continue to monitor their impact.

The Index remains a key tool in the business’ understanding of our residents' lives, and the significant role that Clarion can have. The findings inform every area of our business and ensure we can measure the impact of different programmes of work, target resources and tailor communications.
