Clarion Housing Group’s approach to fire safety, June 2018

As a responsible landlord, we are committed to providing quality homes that are safe for people to live in.  Our comprehensive fire safety strategy places emphasis on the long-term safety of our buildings to protect residents.  We support Dame Judith Hackitt’s recent call for a radical rethink of the building regulation framework and how it is applied.

Immediately following the Grenfell Tower tragedy we used our financial strength and scale to accelerate our existing fire safety programme, which had been in place since the new Group was formed.  A highly specialist team was assembled which completed thorough inspections on all 195 of Clarion’s buildings of six storeys or higher by September 2017.

As well as providing reassurance and specific fire safety advice to current residents, over the last 12 months we have created new fire safety standards for future developments and completed over 40,000 fire risk remedial actions across our housing stock. In addition, we have undertaken a fire suppression options appraisal exercise and are just about to commence our first installation.
