Clarion Housing Group completes deal for Kent site

Clarion Housing Group has secured a site on the outskirts of Ashford, Kent, with the potential to build 300 high-quality new homes.

The Group completed a deal on 2nd March with Brett Group and Ashford Borough Council for the 31 acre site at Conningbrook Lakes. The new development will comprise two, three, four and five bedroom houses, as well as a small number of apartments, all for private sale.

Chartway Construction has been appointed to build the homes. The land already has planning permission and the first tranche of homes are expected to be available by summer 2018.

Cllr Gerry Clarkson, Leader of Ashford Borough Council, said: “Conningbrook Lakes Country Park is a project to gradually transform the former quarry site next to the Julie Rose Stadium into a family orientated country park around the existing lakes, offering a variety of leisure and water-based activities for residents and visitors – and one of the most desirable places to live in the region.

“Since opening in 2015 the country park has proved popular and our long-term vision is to gradually increase the range and level of facilities on offer over time. This will be funded through the residential development, so as the homes are built we can expand the activities available at the park. With a beautiful lakeside setting, views to the North Downs and access to a network of country trails, this park is another stunning attraction for the borough – a real jewel in Ashford’s crown – and a place we hope many visitors will explore and enjoy.”

Earlier in the year, Clarion Housing Group’s Bakers Court development scooped an award at Ashford Borough Council Design Awards in the Best Affordable Development category.  Bakers Court has been built in a contemporary style within landscaped surroundings and the apartments and houses are spacious and innovative with plentiful storage. The gardens, terraces and balconies across the scheme mean that each family benefits from its own private space.
